The Closet Project

The Closet Project is a public art installation created by gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender youth and adults in the Triangle who have painted their coming out stories. This community-wide art project aims to spread awareness throughout the Triangle about the observance of National Coming Out Day by exhibiting art by local "out" queer artists on closet doors. We hope that this project allows more visibility to the national observance of such a historically important day. For more information contact iNSIDEoUT180@gmail.com.

We are seeking local businesses willing to display one closet door (or more) for two weeks, from October 10-24, in honor of National Coming Out Day.

On display October 10-24, at the following locations:

Toast   |   Bull City Headquarters   |   The Pinhook   |   Markham St. Art Circle

Space Builders   |   Weaver St. Market (Hillsborough and Southern Village)
