Start a GSA
- Steps for starting a gsa:
- find a faculty member who will advise the GSA
- find out what needs to be done at your school to start a new club; this may include filling out some forms or writing a constitution
- let the guidance counselors at your school know about the GSA
- plan your first GSA meeting (see below)
- advertise!
- What should we do at our first meeting?
- What if our administration won't let us start a GSA?
- If your administration is denying you the right to meet at school, they are breaking the law. You should put your request in writing, by giving your administrators a letter typed on paper. Be sure to request in writing that if they reject your proposal to start a GSA, they provide a written statement explaining their reasons for that decision.

- "But my school is too homophobic for a GSA; it could never happen here."
- "But my school is so gay-friendly, we don't even need a GSA."
